Transcripts
A transcript is a written version of a podcast episode. Transcripts are helpful for folks who are deaf or hard of hearing, and can be used by anyone to browse or search the contents of an episode without listening, or even just folks who prefer to read. Transcripts can also have other benefits, like making episodes understandable by search engines.
Captions
When Pinecast transcribes and episode, it gets per-word timecodes for your episode. This allows us not only to show the text of the episode, but to provide a closed captioning-like experience in some UIs, like embeddable players.
If you upload a transcript or use a service like Descript to transcribe your episode, the file that we receive may have enough information for us to create a comparable captioning experience. We can't guarantee whether a particular service will or will not have the correct level of detail to support this feature.
Using transcripts
Please see our article Transcripts article for details on how to use transcripts effectively on Pinecast.
