Email Privacy

To have a valid RSS feed, podcasts must publish a live email address. This address is used by apps and directories in most cases to check ownership. However, publishing your email address in your RSS feed can give listeners unwanted access to your personal identity.

Pinecast offers an email privacy service to all paid customers. This feature replaces the email address in your feed with a forwarding address. It's like a PO box for your podcast.

  • Without email privacy: your-email@gmail.com
  • With email privacy: your-podcast@listener.email

When you choose to enable email privacy, we'll use the listener.email  address anywhere we publish an email.

Email privacy can be enabled when creating or importing a podcast. For existing shows, you can enable email privacy by visiting Settings > Email Privacy in your podcast dashboard.

After enabling email privacy on an existing show, it may take up to an hour for the forwarding address to appear in your feed.

Receiving emails

We'll forward emails to your inbox. They'll arrive from the sender noreply@listener.email. We suggest testing your email privacy address to make sure messages are not routed to spam.

Replying to emails

If you reply to an email that was forwarded to you, you'll reply directly to the email's sender.

Be aware! If you reply to an email that was forwarded to you, your personal email address will appear as the sender of the reply.

Delivery failures

If emails to your inbox bounce, email privacy delivery may be paused. This protects our ability to send emails to your account: too many bounced emails will result in automatic rejections. If delivery becomes paused, toggle email privacy off and back on.

Verifying ownership

Some apps and directories may require the email in your feed to match the email address on your account. In cases like this:

  1. Disable email privacy
  2. Wait one hour for your feed to refresh
  3. Claim your podcast on the app or directory
  4. Re-enable email privacy
