Manually subscribing to a podcast RSS feed
When a show is not listed in a podcast app, you can manually subscribe to it via the RSS feed in many common podcast apps. Before you begin, you'll need to know the RSS feed URL for the podcast.
This setup process only needs to be completed one time.
Apple Podcasts for iOS
Choose "Library" along the bottom. Choose "Edit" in the top right and choose "Add a show by URL". Paste your private feed URL.
Apple Podcasts for macOS
In the File menu, choose "Follow a show by URL…".
Pocket Casts
On the "Discover" tab, choose the search option. Paste the feed URL in the search box.
Castro
On the "Discover" tab, paste the feed URL into the search box.
Overcast
Tap the "+" button in the upper right and choose the "Add URL" option. Paste the feed URL.
Breaker
Under Library > Subscriptions, choose the "+" option and "Add from link."
Podcast Addict
Tap the "+" in the upper right. On the next screen, choose the "+" again and select "RSS Feed". Paste the feed URL and tap "Add."
Downcast
Tap "Add" along the bottom. Choose the option to manually add a podcast and paste the feed URL in the field for "Feed". Tap "Subscribe" in the upper right.
Other apps
Consult the support resources for your app of choice. Search for the option to subscribe to a podcast feed by its URL.
- In many podcast apps, you may find a search option. Pasting the feed URL into the search box is a common way to subscribe to the feed.
- You may find a "+" icon. This often allows you to subscribe to a feed.
Apps that do not support private feeds
If you use any of the following apps, you won't be able to subscribe to a private RSS feed:
- Spotify
- iHeartRadio
- Pandora
- Acast
- Castbox
- YouTube Music
